Maestro ‘Chícharo’ Oscar Obregón is a fourth generation mezcalero with over 15 Years of experience in artisanal mezcal production. He is the youngest mezcalero from the Obregón family and loves to distil his mezcal from ‘ancho’ commonly known as agave cupreata which is common to the region of Mazatlán, Guerrero high in the mountains of the Sierra Madre Occidental, southwest of Mexico. Cupreata or Ancho as its commonly referred to is known for its tropical flavours and sweetness derive from the region, terroir and altitude.
How It Is Made
Pit cooked, milled mechanically, natural fermentation in oak wood vats, natural spring water and double distilled in copper alembic stills. The ancho yields approx. 1L of mezcal per 15/20 kgs of Agave and takes between 7 to 15 years to mature. We are honoured to exclusively import and share this brand with Australia.
